A group of state lawmakers are proposing legislation to bring property tax relief next legislative session. That comes as Gov. Kristi Noem is calling on the Republican controlled legislature to make a temporary sales tax cut permanent.

As part of the proposed 2026 state budget, state library funding could be cut by more than one million dollars. This leaves many librarians concerned about the services they provide to their communities.

The proposal of so-called "education savings accounts" in the governor's budget has left a sour taste in some mouths in the education community. The proposal could cost state taxpayers $4 million.

The South Dakota Water Management Board endorses a proposed water pipeline for Western South Dakota. The pipeline would bring roughly seven billion gallons of water per year from the Missouri River to 19 western South Dakota counties.
