U.S. Senator John Thune is officially the Senate Majority Leader. The 119th Congress was officially sworn in Friday.
Former Attorney General Mark Vargo is appointed to represent the South Dakota Law Enforcement Officers Standards and Training Commission. Current Attorney General Marty Jackley is appointing Vargo as the attorney for the group, which sets minimum standards and training requirements for law enforcement officers in the state.
Rapid City elected officials are pausing on efforts to raise salaries for council members, mayors, and other elected positions for now. Local council members make just over $13,000 yearly and the mayor makes just shy of $125,000.
Sanford Health faces a $700,000 lawsuit from the Mayo Clinic orbiting alleged unpaid bills from 2022. The lawsuit was initially filed Dec. 13 in Minnesota district court.
