Gov. Larry Rhoden and a working group of lawmakers are unveiling their property tax relief proposal. Over the last four years, the property tax burden has increased for owner-occupied, while commercial has remained steady and agriculture has decreased.

The state House of Representatives approves two bills that change South Dakota election law. HB1169 mandates petition gatherers to collect signatures from each Senatorial district for constitutional amendments.

South Dakota elections will continue to use tabulation machines despite an effort in a Senate committee. The bill was brought by Piedmont Republican Sen. John Carley.
