On today's update...

Two bills aimed at improving Ellsworth Air Force Base saw different fates on the Senate floor. Advocates say this means some state support for Ellsworth is coming after all.

Three bills intended to reduce owner-occupied property taxes are advancing in the South Dakota capitol. Two will get voted on in the House and Senate Thursday afternoon.

A bill codifying fundamental parental rights passed a House committee. Supporters say it limits the state’s ability to infringe on parents’ rights. Opponents argue it’s vague and could have unintended consequences.

A bill prohibiting “deepfakes” -or realistic AI-generated images, audio or video recordings of real people- to influence elections in South Dakota advances from committee.

The House is passing a bill requiring driver’s licenses, permits, and state IDs to indicate citizenship status.

A House resolution encouraging Amtrak to come to South Dakota died on the Senate floor.

And more.
