On today's update...

South Dakota lawmakers are passing a budget to fund state government for the upcoming fiscal year. Many call it a lean budget and anticipate tough financial decisions in the future.

Rather than waiting for veto day on March 31, House lawmakers upheld Gov. Larry Rhoden's veto of HB 1132 on Thursday.

Gov. Larry Rhoden says more needs to be done on property tax relief than was achieved the past three months during the session.

The House rejects the Senate’s version of a hotly contested “parents’ rights” bill.

Gov. Larry Rhoden signs a bill to revise the penalty and provide treatment for ingestion of a controlled substance. Prior to the bill, South Dakota was the only state in the country with a felony drug ingestion charge.

And more.
