Governor Dennis Daugaard is seeking a second term. He'll face fellow Republican Lora Hubbel in South Dakota's June 3 primary election. The governor faced critical issues early in his first term including the Missouri River flood and a state budget on which Daugaard and the state legislature tightened the belt, eliminating a $127-million structural deficit. He continues to emphasize job creation, sound fiscal management and efficient government operation. The governor spoke with SDPB news producer Kealey Bultena last week.
