Bosworth, Walker Face Election Fraud Charges

Former South Dakota US Senate candidates Annette Bosworth and Clayton Walker have arrest warrants out for their alleged conduct while gathering nomination signatures to qualify for the primary.

Bosworth was allowed to run and finished a distant fourth in the five-candidate race, while Walker was not allowed on the ballot by Secretary of State Jason Gant.

South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley says these are serious allegations.

“The election complaint released by the Secretary of State involve conduct that is serious, deliberate, and must be addressed to maintain the integrity of our elections," Jackley says. "Because this is a federal elected office, I have also, and will continue to, discuss the investigation with federal authorities.  Both Mr. Walker and Miss Bosworth have been charged with six counts of filing false documents, and six counts of perjury, with respect to the petition filing process.”

Jackley says both Bosworth and Walker face a total of 12 felony counts regarding the election fraud charges. Bosworth turned herself in to authorities in Sioux Falls Wednesday and was released on a recognizance bond. An initial court appearance is scheduled for June 23rd in Pierre.
