Congressman Dusty Johnson says he voted against the $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill Congress passed recently because it’s too big.
The South Dakota Republican is glad the bill focuses largely on roads, bridges and other infrastructure. But he’s concerned the bill relies on one-time funding sources. Johnson says that will create what he calls a massive “fiscal cliff” in a few years.
"I simply can’t support more unsustainable spending," Johnson said in a statement.
South Dakota’s two U.S. senators also opposed the bill, but both houses of Congress passed it.
