South Dakota's congressional delegation is asking for increased funding from the Department of Interior for the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Justice Rehabilitation Center.
The delegation is highlighting the need for a new police department headquarters since the current facility has been infiltrated by mold that poses a health risk.
In their letter, the state's three members of Congress are asking for immediate funding after the U.S. Department of Interior, the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Office of Justice Services condemned the facility. The delegation is urging Interior Secretary Debra Haaland to expedite the consideration of the funding request.
