The South Dakota Republican Party is bringing in a new executive director for the 2022 election cycle.
Terin Lucero is a former political director for the Republican Party of Virginia. Lucero was also deputy director for data analytics for the Virginia gubernatorial campaign of Glenn Youngkin.
Dan Lederman is chair of the South Dakota Republican Party. He says Lucero will bring data analytics to the party’s campaign operations.
“We hope to utilize the skills that Terin has gained with RNC data to have the best ground game on data in the state,” Lederman said. “We want to parlay our efforts from the work we’ve done in the last couple of years to grow our voter registration numbers to take the last 11 seats of the Legislature and have 105 Republican legislators in the state of South Dakota.”
The upcoming election will feature the first legislative races since lawmakers set new political boundaries. Republicans currently control 90 percent of legislative seats in Pierre.
Lucero is the first executive director for the state GOP in five years.
