SDSU Poll: Noem on 'wrong side of public opinion' on abortion ban exceptions

Preliminary numbers from a South Dakota State University poll show most voters want exceptions to the state’s abortion ban in cases of rape and incest.

Dave Wiltse, Ph.D., is director of the SDSU Poll.

“About 75 percent of the electorate has some serious opposition to not having this exclusion carved out in the law," Wiltse says. "So this puts the governor on the wrong side of public opinion on this.”

The poll comes from a non-partisan research unit of the political science program. It’s housed in the School of American and Global Studies.

The SDSU Poll asked a number of questions about abortion issues. More of that data is scheduled for release next week.
