South Dakota receives $426,000 to reduce lead in schools

The grant requires guidance from the EPA to decrease lead in drinking water in schools and childcare facilities in the state.

The Biden-Harris Administration announced Tuesday South Dakota will receive over $426,000 to reduce lead in schools and child care facilities.

The funding comes from the Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation Act.

President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law expanded the eligibility of the WIIN Act's funding to include remediating lead in water children drink.

The money will also go toward water testing and compliance monitoring.
