Ellsworth Airforce Base’s mission is unchanged, despite conflict in the Gaza strip between Israel and Hamas.
Colonel Derek Oakley, commander of the 28th Bomb Wing said Ellsworth’s focus remains on countries like China and Russia.
“Operations at Ellsworth have not changed. We continue to be prepared for peer adversaries, near peer adversaries," Oakley said. "If things escalate out there, we will be prepared to go out there at any moment.”
U.S. leaders are sending a message to Iran and proxy militant groups to prevent the conflict in Gaza from widening.
Ellsworth is the home base for the B21-Raider, a nuclear capable stealth bomber.
Years in the making, the nearly $700 million dollar aircraft is scheduled for flight later this year.
