Gov. Kristi Noem has joined other Republican governors in opposing federal mandates on electric vehicles.

The Biden administration’s current mandate requires that two-thirds of all vehicles on the road must be electric by 2023.

Noem, along with 15 other governors, are asking the White House to remove the mandate, citing a lack of infrastructure to support battery electric vehicles.

The governors also want to see consumers drive the vehicle market rather than government mandates.
