Gov. Kristi Noem signs a bill increasing the fee nonresidents pay to register their vehicles in South Dakota.
SB 112 requires anyone who titles a car, off-road vehicle or boat but doesn’t have a South Dakota driver’s license to pay a $100 surcharge.
Half that fee will go to counties, the other half goes to state government.
The law does not affect South Dakota residents.
The bill passed the legislature with little resistance.
