Rapid City Republican Sen. Michael Diedrich has announced he will not seek reelection following his current term.
Diedrich was absent for the entirety of the last legislative session on account of his battle with cancer. He has instead spent the time with his loved ones.
Diedrich has endorsed former city attorney Jason Green for his seat.
At the close of session, both Republican and Democratic lawmakers spoke highly of Diedrich’s contributions to the political culture over his 13 years as a lawmaker.
