The interim director of the South Dakota Legislative Research Council is now taking on the position full-time.
The legislative Executive Board named John McCullough director of the LRC at its meeting Tuesday.
The LRC helps lawmakers in the bill-writing process.
McCullough has served as interim director of the council since October. He took over following the resignation of Director Reed Holwegner.
Prior to being named interim director, McCullough served as the council's chief research and legal analyst. The LRC has begun the search to fill that role.
