South Dakota leaders are reacting to Joe Biden dropping out of the presidential race.
Gov. Kristi Noem and Rep. Dusty Johnson both posted on X that this was the “right decision for our nation.”

Sen. John Thune said it doesn’t matter who the DNC candidate is and that he believes the American people want a change.
Whether it’s Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, or someone else, it doesn’t matter who’s at the top of the ticket. The Democrat Party is synonymous with higher prices, open borders, and global instability. The American people want a change. Republicans will deliver it this November.

Sen. Mike Rounds said although he disagrees with Biden on policy - he “commends his dedication to service and love of country.” However, he also said he worries about inflation and other issues during the rest of Biden’s term.
President Biden has served our nation in public office for over 50 years. While we don’t agree on much politically, I still commend his dedication to service and love of country.
