A court case over the validity of Amendment G, a proposed abortion amendment, is being expedited.
A state circuit court is moving the case up so it can be decided on before ballot measures are published in state newspapers, according to a statement from Life Defense Fund an anti-abortion group challenging the measure.
Life Defense Fund is suing Dakotans for Health, the group backing the measure, claiming it broken election law while gathering signatures.
In its order expediting the case, the court joined Secretary of State Monae Johnson as a party to the case. It also denied the Dakotans for Health’s motion to dismiss.
A Minnehaha County court judge dismissed the case last month, but the state Supreme Court later reversed that ruling.
