Thune receives Hatch award for public service, bipartisanship

Sen. John Thune is receiving the Titan of Public Service Award.

The Orrin G. Hatch Foundation gives the award out every to individuals who quote “exemplify the values of service, civility, and bipartisanship.”

The foundation specifically noted his work on the Senate Commerce Committee.

"Together with Hatch, Thune led passage of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which enacted the most sweeping reforms to our nation’s tax code in a generation and brought much-needed relief to middle-income families," a press release announcing the award said. "He has authored laws to improve telehealth services, reduce internet taxes and help small businesses engage in global commerce."

Jackson Dircks is a Freeburg, Illinois, native. He is pursuing a degree in English, Journalism and Secondary Education at Augustana University and planning to graduate in May 2025. He plans to pursue a career in sports journalism.
