A new political forum airing this week aims to help South Dakota voters learn more about the issues they'll decide on in the November 2024 election.
This forum is presented by SDPB, South Dakota News Watch, the McGovern Center at DWU and Dakota Wesleyan University. It is in conjunction with the Vote South Dakota Project. It’s a partnership of the South Dakota Broadcasters Association (SDBA), South Dakota NewsMedia Association (SDNA), South Dakota NewsWatch (SDNW) and South Dakota Public Broadcasting (SDPB).
The forum features representatives from both sides of ballot questions appearing on the Nov. 5 ballot as well as Public Utilities Commission candidates.
Journalists from across the state and DWU students will ask questions during the forum, which is hosted by SDPB's Jackie Hendry.
The forum airs Thursday, Sept. 19 from 8 to 10 p.m. CDT on SDPB television and radio stations across the state. It is also being broadcast live online in both English and Spanish on several SDPB platforms. The livestreams will appear shortly before the event begins at the following links:

Members of the public are invited to attend the event in person. It takes place at the Sherman Center on DWU's campus.
The forum is part of the Vote South Dakota project, a joint media effort to make more information available to the public ahead of the election. The Vote South Dakota website includes a legislative candidate map as well as election-related news stories from several media outlets.
SDPB is also holding a separate debate between Rep. Dusty Johnson and his Democratic challenger, Sheryl Johnson on Oct. 15.
