This year’s presidential election had the highest total voter turnout in South Dakota history.
The turnout was 436,470 ballots cast on Nov. 5, according to the South Dakota Secretary of State’s website.
That is nearly 9,000 more voters than the previous record from 2020.
However, that isn’t the highest turnout in terms of percentage of registered voters.
This year, 69.9% of registered voters hit the polls. That’s the highest since 2004, which saw 78.6% turnout.
