New Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security Kristi Noem is touting the first few days in office – including a sweeping series of deportations – as a success.
This comes after the former South Dakota governor joined the US Immigration and Customs Enforcements in a series of New York roundups of people Noem said were living in the country illegally.
In a social media post, Noem said the arrests targeted criminals and gang members.
When Americans break the law, they face consequences. Under President Trump, now criminal aliens & gangs finally will too. (1/2) pic.twitter.com/b4H1dzkEAo

In an interview with Fox News, Noem said under her lead, she plans to ensure “criminal aliens” are out of the US. She said it’s a follow-through of President Trump’s campaign promises.
“So going in all night long and doing these targeted raids against these criminal aliens was very specific. And we pulling them out," Noem said. "Obviously, we’re going to gather more information about some more of the criminals that are out there. We talk about families that are losing their kids to violence. They’re losing our next generation of Americans to drugs. These folks are perpetuating that, and we’re gonna get them out of here and make sure that we’re continuing to build on that and know that the American people are truly being heard."

New York Attorney General Letitia James said she is monitoring the situation closely to ensure the state’s sanctuary policies are respected.
My office will be taking imminent legal action against this administration's unconstitutional pause on federal funding.
