A bill giving the Department of Transportation regulatory authority for aeronautics is approved by the Legislature.
Such regulation that the DOT would now have includes updating the requirements for the issuance and maintenance of an operating license for airports.
The DOT had this power until 2019.
Some opposed, saying the Legislature shouldn’t give away its own rule-making authority without a necessary cause.
The bill passed the House 42-26 and now awaits the governor’s signature.
