Gov. Larry Rhoden is asking President Trump to strike a rule requiring a seven-day waiting period before firearms and accessories can be shipped.
Under the Brady Handgun Violence Protection Act of 1993, all firearms dealers are required to conduct background checks on buyers.
In a letter to Trump and Attorney General Pam Bondi, Rhoden called the waiting period “unnecessary” now that background checks are federally required.
He said the rule affects Silencer Central in Sioux Falls and “hampers their ability to do business” because it applies to silencers.
