Innovation: From The SURF

Constance Walter

SDPB's Cara Hetland hosts Innovation from the 4850 level of the Sanford Underground Research Facility in Lead.

Jason Crusan's job is to lead new flight and system capabilities for human exploration. He's the Director for the Advanced Exploration Systems with the Human Exploration and Operations Mission Directorate at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. His division is developing computer systems that can identify and solve problems without help from Mission Control. Crusan is the keynote speaker at Neutrino Day. His presentation will focus on what a mission to Mars would look like and some of the systems on which they're working.

Elizabeth Worcester works on numerous experiments including the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE). She's an experimental high-energy physicist at Brookhaven National Lab in Upton, New York. Worcester's work focuses on the expected sensitivity of the experiment to measurements of long-baseline oscillation parameters. She also works on the cold electronics that are used to read out the liquid argon time projection chambers at Fermilab in Batavia, Illinois.
