South Dakota offers the perfect climate for a pair of leafy residents that often go unsung and unnoticed. The state is home to two species of milkweed, one to the west and one to the east. They meet in the middle.
Carrie Olson-Manning, Ph.D., is an assistant professor of biology at Augustana University. She studies what happens when the two milkweed species get together.
She joins Lori Walsh to dive into her milkweed hybridization research and a National Science Foundation grant that will help it go further.
