Author Dave Eggers reflects on the anatomy of a book ban

On today's show...

A few years ago, Rapid City public school staff collected more than 300 copies of five books. The books were then listed as "To be destroyed" in a school board agenda.

Dave Eggers' "The Circle" was one of those books. He responded to his first book ban by building a relationship with the community — one that continues to this day.

A new documentary follows that story. The author and Arthur Bradford, director of "To Be Destroyed," discuss the anatomy of a book banning (1:00 to 19:50).

SDPB's C.J. Keene brings us perspectives and voices from the author's talk and documentary screening in Rapid City this weekend (19:50 to 25:42).

Plus, SDPB's Teacher Talk educators share how to find the moments — big and small — to change a student's life (25:42 to 49:16).
