The Aberdeen Roncalli Cavaliers defeated the Dell Rapids Quarriers 53-50 on Saturday night in Rapid City to win the class A boys state basketball championship.

Roncalli gained an eight point lead through three quarters of play with a score of 41-33, but Dell Rapids came back late in the forth quarter. Unfortunately for the Quarriers, it was too little too late.

Zach Hammerich led the scoring for Aberdeen Roncalli with 17 points. He also grabbed nine rebounds and had three assists. Baryden McNeary also put up 16 points in the game for the Cavaliers and Daniel Holmstrom scored 14.

Ty Hoglund led the Quarriers in scoring with 17 points. He also brought in six rebounds and had two assists. Zane Schumaker had 13 points in the game, along with six rebounds and three assists.

Aberdeen Roncalli shot 38% from the field, compared to 32% shooting from Dell Rapids. This back and forth battle was decided in the closing seconds, but it was the Cavaliers who held the edge to win the boys basketball state championship.
