The Sioux Falls Lincoln Patriots defeated the Sioux Falls Washington Warriors 47-45 in the Class AA state boys basketball championship on Saturday night in Sioux Falls.

Lincoln trailed the Warriors 40-30 at the end of the third quarter, but they went on to outscore Washington 17-5 in the final quarter of play.

Kaleb Johnson led the Patriots in scoring with 21 points. He also attributed three assists and six steals. Park Addison also dropped 10 points with six rebounds to help the Patriots to a victory.

Deng Geu led the Washington Warriors in scoring with 14 points. He also had four rebounds, four assists, and two blocks. Cole Benson, who won the class AA “Spirit of Su” award, also scored 10 points for the Warriors.

The Lincoln Patriots were the runner’s up last year as they fell to Sioux Falls Roosevelt in the championship game. Saturday night’s championship win gives the Patriots their first stat title in boys basketball since 2009.
