The Highmore-Harrold football program has entered a two-year co-op with Miller. This comes as a result of the special meeting held on Wednesday afternoon by the South Dakota High School Activities Association.
Highmore-Harrold/Miller will participate in 9-man football and they will be eligible for the playoffs.
John Krogstrand with the South Dakota High School Activities Association said he and his staff are still working through some of the kinks.
“As far as home and away that needs to get worked out and try to balance the schedules, and do the best thing we can to ensure the best fit for everyone,” said Krogstrand. “I do think we have a solution out there, where everyone can have that eighth game.”
Krogstrand also said the Highmore-Harrold team will represent Miller High School by wearing green and white uniforms. If both Miller and Highmore-Harrold want to continue their co-op beyond the 2016 football season, then they’ll both have to reapply.
The SDHSAA voted 8-0 on Wednesday declaring the Highmore-Harrold situation an emergency. They then voted 6-2 on the co-op for Miller and Highmore-Harrold. The SDHSAA is working at getting an updated football schedule posted by Monday.
