The conclusion of the boys state tennis tournament is following the same pattern as it did on the second day – indoors. Rainy and chilled conditions have enticed tournament operators to move the competition inside.

Jo Auch with the South Dakota High School Activities Association said Friday that it’s nice to have the flexibility to move the tournament inside.

“What really helps is the ability to have eleven indoor courts,” explains Auch. “With [The Huether Family] Match Pointe having six indoor courts and then three and two courts at the other two locations [Country Club of Sioux Falls and Great Life at Wood Lake], it's fantastic.”

Auch also said that weather conditions are always questionable this time of year, and that it’s best to be prepared for anything and everything when dealing with Mother Nature.

“I start looking at the forecast right away. As soon as that forecast pops up a week in advance, we start making plans,” said Auch. “I’ve made three different tennis schedules for this tennis tournament in particular and you role with the punches. You do what you need to do to have a great state tournament and a memory for these kids.”
