On Wednesday afternoon, the Milwaukee Brewers drafted Pierre’s Peyton Zabel in the 19th round of the Major League Baseball draft.
In November, the two-sport athlete committed to playing both football and baseball at Augustana University.
Zabel helped lead the Governors football team to an 11AA state championship in 2017 over Harrisburg. In the title game he threw for 196-yards and two touchdowns.
Last summer Zabel also helped lead the Pierre Post-8 American Legion Baseball team to a state championship with a victory over Brandon Valley.
It’s unknown currently whether Zabel will sign with the Brewers, or if he’ll continue down the college path to play both football and baseball with Augie.
