The South Dakota Department of Game Fish and Parks is hosting two open-house meetings on the future of Spring Creek Country Club near Sioux Falls , which will eventually come under state ownership .

Al Nedved is deputy state parks director and said the state and the South Dakota Parks and Wildlife Foundation want public input on how to use the land.

“The Spring Creek Golf Course will eventually become property of the Parks and Wildlife Foundation, and ultimately transferred to the department in 2025," he said. "So, what we're doing is trying to find what the most appropriate use and opportunities are in Good Earth State Park.”

Nedved said the location of the property makes it unique.

“It’s immersed in some residential areas, it's not perfectly connected to Good Earth State Park. It does have some contact points, but its ability to be connected to the park is still a little bit uncertain," he said. "So, there's a lot of things to consider there.”

Open house meetings are today at the Sioux Falls Outdoor Campus from 4 to 5:30 p.m. and at the Good Earth State Park Visitor Center from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Additional opportunities for public input will be announced after the open-house sessions.
