Rapid City will play host to the 2023 SDHSAA all-state chorus and orchestra concert this Saturday at Summit Arena at The Monument.

This is the 71st annual all-state chorus and orchestra concert in South Dakota. The concert will begin at 7 pm MT.

Dr. Mark Laycock is the guest conductor for the orchestra. He’s a professor of music at Wichita State, who also holds recognition for creativity and excellence in fine arts and teaching. On the chorus side, Dr. Ryan Person of Morningside University in Sioux City, Iowa will be the guest conductor. Person’s ensembles have received numerous honors since 2018 when Person arrived.

This year’s chorus will consist of 924 singers from 142 schools. The orchestra will be comprised of 163 musicians from 30 schools across the state. It’s one of the largest SDHSAA events of the year.

The all-state chorus and orchestra concert will air live at 7 pm MT on SDPB1-TV, and stream live online at sdpb.org/chorusorchestra. Due to music restriction copyrights, this event will NOT stream live on YouTube.
