Since 2007, a Rapid City company has been redefining what it means to learn how to ride a bike. Ryan McFarland is the founder of Strider Bikes. It all started when McFarland wanted to share his love of bikes with his son, who was two years old at the time.
Now the company builds rocker bikes for babies, balance bikes for toddlers, and convertible Strider bikes for the transition to pedals. (No banana seats or training wheels required.)
Kelsey and Derrik Dvoracek and their children Piper and Walker love to camp and bike together. But the Dvoracek family had a challenge in helping 3-year old Piper learn to ride. Piper benefited from an adaptive bike, which, fortunately, Strider Bikes also specializes in.
Charlie Brumbaugh has been with Strider Bikes since the early days and currently works in product development and quality control. He joined the Dvoracek family as we learned more about the impact of adaptive bikes.
The Strider Cup takes place in Rapid City on September 14. Kids ages 2-6 gather to show off their balance skills and race in front of cheering families and fans.
