Authorities in northeast South Dakota are warning about ice conditions on lakes after several ice fishing close calls.
The Day County Sheriff’s Office said two vehicles went through the ice on Bitter Lake over the weekend. That’s a popular fishing spot near Waubay.
No one was hurt in either incident.
According to the South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks website, ice should be at least foot thick before you take a vehicle onto a lake, though 16 inches is preferred.
