Horse Racing Season

The 2014 South Dakota Horse Racing Association's season begins the weekend of April 19-20 at the Stanley County Fairgrounds in Ft. Pierre.  After three weekends there, the season continues for another three weekends at the Brown County Fairgrounds in Aberdeen.  John Andrews, managing editor of South Dakota Magazine, is the author of the cover story in the March/April issue, "My Day at the Track."  The magazine's publisher gave Andrews $100 in betting money to help immerse himself in South Dakota's horse racing culture.  Andrews was joined on Dakota Midday by Heather Benson, owner of Back Forty Media, a consulting firm based in Centerville that assists horse racing industry clients.  Benson gave an insider's perspective into the fast and colorful sport.
