Anthony Williams is a retired Navy Veteran. Captivated by the history of the American West, he decided to make his post-Navy life in Deadwood. He bought a historic home and volunteers his time serving on the Historic Preservation Commission of Deadwood. During a recent preservation conference in Rapid City, he visited with SDPB’s Lura Roti about his passion for history and preserving it.

She began her career as a theater teacher and taught at Central High School. After she retired from teaching, she revisited her childhood passion for history and received a master’s in history.

Each year South Dakota colleges and universities are required to submit a report on all of their efforts to promote intellectual diversity. The 2021 report was nearly 150 pages. The Senate Education Committee heard a debate on Senate Bill 117 which would repeal the requirement for the report. We listen in on the debate.

We take a moment to look back on this day in 1971. Senator George McGovern gave a speech on television expressing his opposition of U.S. military actions in Vietnam. This ended up being a big part of his campaign for President in 1972.

Miller Farmer Terry Johnson is the fourth-generation to farm the land his Great-Grandpa Cawood and Grandpa Johnson homesteaded in the late 1880s Dakota Territory. Today his son, Curtis continues the family farming tradition.
