Shane Balkowitsch considers himself an "image maker" more than a photographer. The first personal camera he owned was a wet plate camera. His wet plate exhibition at the Dahl Arts Center in Rapid City is open until August 6. It's an gathering of images of Northern Plains Native Americans, and it evokes the tradition of photographers such as Edward Curtis.
