Bikers have already started descending on the Black Hills for the upcoming Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.

The new proposal splits race day costs and profits between the city and race organizers while also shortening the race track to close off fewer city streets.

Sturgis voters are rejecting a contract with a company that wants to bring a race to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. But that doesn’t mean the event can’t happen.

Organizers for a street race in downtown Sturgis are making a final pitch to the community ahead of a vote on whether the race should happen.

The next Sturgis rally is right around the corner, and there might be more events this coming year. However, the addition of a street race through town might not be supported by everyone in the community.

Paired with the introduction of a new visitor reporting method, sales tax receipts from the month of August report a decidedly average Sturgis Motorcycle Rally this year.

Storms may have put a slight damper on this years Sturgis Rally, but it wasn’t all dark clouds. Business owners are still reporting a strong turnout all things considered.

Overall attendance at the 2023 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally was down from recent years.
