SDPB Sports Content Producer and Sports and Recreation ReporterNate Wek is currently the sports content producer and sports and rec beat reporter for South Dakota Public Broadcasting. He is a graduate of South Dakota State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism Broadcasting and a minor in Leadership. From 2010-2013 Nate was the Director of Gameday Media for the Sioux Falls Storm (Indoor Football League) football team. He also spent 2012 and 2013 as the News and Sports Director of KSDJ Radio in Brookings, SD. Nate, his wife Sarah, and three sons, Braxan, Jordy, and Anders live in Canton, SD.

Pine Ridge defeated Winnebago 42-40 in double overtime on Friday in Vermillion to win the 2024 9A All-Nations Football Conference championship. This game had it all – from big plays on offense, defensive scores, and an exciting comeback.

Faith Wiese of Flandreau won the ‘A’ girls individual cross-country title on Saturday at Hart Ranch in Rapid City. She finished with a time of 18:27.59, nearly a full thirteen seconds ahead of runner-up finisher Ellie Maddox of Sioux Falls Christian.

Northwestern’s Ella Boekelheide is now a two-time individual state cross country champion. The Wildcats junior won the ‘B’ girls race with a time of 19:07.52 at the state cross country meet on Saturday from Hart Ranch in Rapid City.
